S.A.C. Shutting of the Gates Parade The Chairman and officers of the Amalgamated Committee lead by the Excellent Govan Protestant Boys Flute Band Paraded to the War Memorial at 9.15 am to lay a wreath and hold a service of rememberance. This service was very dignified and set the tone for the rest of the day. The main parade left Kelvinhaugh Street at 10.45 am and paraded the 2 miles to the Evangelical Church, Cathedral Square. The parade had 30 Branch clubs represented along with 23 Flute Bands. The Parade was well supported and was one of the Amalgamates biggest church parades. The parade was graced with dry weather although a little cold but we were grateful for dry weather. The church service commenced at 12.15 and the numbers attending the service was up on the previous years with the balcony area of the church being used which was great to see. Pastor Helen Walker commented on the excellent turn out at the service and her sermon was well received and her support to our Association generally appreciated. Thanks has to go to the S.A.C.’s marshal team who again worked extremely hard ensuring the parade was well organized, planned and information available to all clubs. The support of our member Branch Clubs and their Bands must be mentioned and the attendance at the service reflected the support being given to the Association in Scotland. Another excellent advert for our Association in Scotland. View Comments (1 comment) |
