A special meeting of the Campsie Parent Club was held in the 20th District Orange Halls, Rutherglen, Glasgow on Saturday 19th April 2008 at 3.00 pm for the purpose of carrying out the Charter Installation for the 33rd Branch of The Campsie Club which would be known as The Royal Burgh of Rutherglen Campsie Club. The packed meeting, which was attended by visiting brethren from all over Scotland was opened as per Ritual form by the Worthy President Bro James Thompson. After reading the Charter aloud and the authorisation of General Committee, all of the 13 Charter members were summoned in turn to the dais where to according to ancient practice within our famous and honourable brotherhood and by ritual form the installation of the Royal Burgh of Rutherglen Campsie Branch Club was completed.
Furthermore Bro Thompson performed The Election of Officers for the new Branch Club for the ensuing year. After which Bro William Moore, General Secretary of the Associated Clubs of The Apprentice Boys of Derry carried out the Installation of Officers ably assisted by Bro Craig Stevenson, Assistant General Secretary and by two installing Marshals from the Scottish Amalgamated Committee Bro John Coutts and Bro George McArthur.
A new Branch Club Bannerette depicting the scene of the “Closing of the Gates” and new Officers collarettes were dedicated to the glory of God and in memory of The Brave 13 by Bro. J. G. McClean, City of Edinburgh Campsie Club and Bro Philip Hamilton, Campsie Parent Club respectively. Bro. Hamilton duly presented a suitably inscribed Holy Bible to Bro. Alan Wilson, Inaugural President of The Royal Burgh of Rutherglen Campsie Club, to mark this historic occasion. A number of Branch Club candidates were also presented for enrolment into our honourable and famous Brotherhood.
At the closing of the meeting all members joined in a parade of the local area in great sunshine and were joined by Cambuslang Britannia and Bridgeton Loyalists Flute Bands for the hour-long procession. On completion the brethren were treated to a buffet and a social evening, which brought to a close the events of the memorable day.
The Campsie Parent Club would like to sincerely congratulate the newly initiated members of its newest Branch Club and warmly welcome them as the latest members of our extended Campsie family. We would further like to take this opportunity to thank all of the visiting brethren who travelled to share in the Charter Installation with them and to no means least to the Officer Bearers and members of The Scottish Amalgamated Committee for all the help and guidance afforded to them both on the day and behind the scenes.
