The Associated Clubs of the Apprentice Boys of Derry
Campsie Club Weekend 2007
The annual Campsie Weekend of events took place in Londonderry on the 5th and 6th October 2007. With an increasing attendance every year, the festivities started on Friday night. The night started with the installation of officers meeting, with Belfast Campsie assisting with the installation of the new officers for the forthcoming year. Afterwards a social gathering took place in the “13 Lounge” of the Society Social Club, where refreshments and a few unfortunate dance moves were served. A presentation on behalf of the Campsie Parent Club also took place for those members of her Majesties Armed Forces who are soon to be shipped to Afganastan On Saturday the main event took place starting at 12 noon. The parade left Bond Street and made its way with great dignity through the waterside, over Craigavon Bridge and through the city, finally ending outside the Apprentice Boys Memorial Hall, with upwards of 250 members on parade. The Branch Clubs were well represented, with brethren from across Ulster and Scotland. All Parent Clubs were also represented in large numbers. The two bands in attendance were the East Bank Protestant Boys and Burntoillet. After a meeting to install new members, a social afternoon was planned. Local band and crowd favourites Indigo entertained the large crowd well into the early evening, with East bank Protestant Boys also playing to much acclaim. The Campsie Parent Club would like to thank all those who took part in the weekend and gave up their time to make this a very enjoyable and worthwhile event. View Comments (0 comments) |
